CHOOSING YOUR PERFECT WATTAGE

Vape wattage is a personal choice that plays a big part in your vaping journey. Whether you prefer the flavour and thick cloud production of high VG vape juice, or whether you prefer the intense hit of high PG e-liquids, a higher wattage will increase coil temperatures and vaporisation levels, meaning more vapour and arguably more enjoyment.

Your preferred vaping wattage can depend on how experienced you are in vaping, how well you know your device, as well as the vaping experience that you are looking for.

If you look at most closed pod devices, they are designed to emulate the sensations of smoking, and you’ll find they are pre-set at around 7-15 watts. When you factor in that there are hundreds of devices on the market that can reach up to 200W and beyond, it’s clear to see that 7-15W is on the lower end of the scale.

However, that doesn’t mean that a low wattage is bad. In fact, even 10 watts is sufficient to guarantee a satisfying vape, and this may be ideal for new vapers.

As you become more experienced, it’s safe to say that vaping really starts to excel between the range of 40 and 50 watts. At these wattages you’ll really start to experience all of the nuances and subtleties in your e-liquid, allowing you to find the perfect flavour for you. It is at this range that details like denseness of vapour and hit to the throat also begin to truly come out.

It is not surprising to find most vapers of all levels tend to stick with 50W-75W wattage levels for their daily vaping, only increasing it when they are starting to feel adventurous.

WHAT VAPE WATTAGE HAS THE BEST FLAVOUR?

The perfect balance of vapour and flavour is anywhere between 50 and 100 watts depending on your coil choice. Clapton and Alien coils usually take a bit more power to ramp up so you'll want to boost the wattage if you're using either of these options.

IS IT BAD TO VAPE AT LOW WATTAGE?

First of all, it has never been considered dangerous, ‘bad’ or damaging to vape at a low wattage. A low vape wattage means vaping at a decreased power level (and, therefore, less intense temperatures). While this will definitely prolong your battery life and increase the overall life expectancy of your device in general, lower burn temperatures will result in less vaporisation and a weaker vaping experience.

However, you will reach a cut-off point at which a higher wattage begins to burn the vape juice, producing an off-putting ‘burn hit’. At this point, you need to lower the wattage.

Switch and play with your device settings to find the perfect wattage to use with your e-cig. You will likely find that the perfect wattage falls within the limits that are included in your vaping manual. Although you may want to tweak the limits at the start to give you a good idea of how different wattages work before you set your vape mod.
